🔰 Neonatal Sepsis Screening 🔰

📌 Parameters -

👉 Total Leukocyte Count (TLC) < 5,000/cumm

👉 Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC) < 1800/cumm

👉 Immature neutrophil (Band cell) : Total neutrophil ratio (I : T ratio) > 0.2 or >20%.

👉 Micro ESR > 15 mm in 1st hour

👉 C-reactive protein (CRP) > 1 mg/dl

📌 Interpretation -

👉 Considered positive, when 2 or more parameters are positive (out of the 5).

👉 If initial screen is Negative, but clinical suspicion of sepsis is High, it should be Repeated after 12 hours. 

👉 Two consecutively negative sepsis screen Excludes Neonatal Sepsis with reasonable certainty.
